Balaji Srinivasan made an interesting comment on an Indian podcast last year were he said fifty years ago, New Delhi was filled with homeless outside wealthy homes and San Francisco streets were clean. Now he says the opposite is true. This is to say, American and Indian standards of living are trading places. I can't say if that is true or not, as America (as well as the rest of the West) seems to be in a period of transition and everything seems crazy. If you have read the book the Fourth Turning by Neil Howe, he does a brilliant job of condensing much of what we are experiencing into economic / political cycles and says this is all normal.
