This might be the best podcast about Vietnam and the region. It's funny, upbeat and has good production value. You should check it out.
If you want to understand Chinese history, you really need to follow this Substack and watch his YouTube Channel. I have found it to be an amazing resource to help contextualize my own area of research.
Kat grew up in Vietnam as the Vietnamese war with America was drawing to an end, leaving her with a very interesting perspective, coming from the daughter of U.S. intelligence, as well as a military extended family. She recounts the stories of her youth to give a unique perspective of Vietnam at that pivotal time.
Sally is always so kind and her painting skills are excellent. I always look forward to seeing what she has to say.
I have recently discovered Elisabeth Tai's articles and I am constantly finding something interesting I never knew before. I highly enjoy reading her work.
Yaw has an incredible grasp of economics and history. Although he focuses on Africa, the principles can be applied universally. I find I am a little better informed after reading one of his articles.
An amazing accounting of Vietnam from a well read author who has been around the block a few times to put a little context into the modern culture. He has an insightful view into the expat life, from the constant clinking of mugs of ice beer with the obligatory Một Hai Ba, Dô! mixed with delectable street food from yet another dodgy food cart, while trying to maintain a normal life in this abnormal land.
This is where I get a lot of my news about what is happening in Vietnam. Mike also has a wonderful weekly podcast about current events and news to catch up on the important issues of the day.
